Did you start The Dream Hotel? I saw that it was in your anticipated list last month and your books-to-read-after-Severance list. I finished and recommend it
I am so not a horror reader, but I think the literary references and quirky voice of VICTORIAN PSYCHO kept me going! Something I noticed: the juxtaposition of Winifred's obvious and bloody cruelty with the more subtle but just as atrocious cruelty of the upper classes. Now and then Feito would include something about the upper crust owning workhouses with child workers or something else despicable, and I'd think hmm what are we supposed to see in the contrast here?
I so appreciate you pointing out those moments, Chelsey! I feel like I subconsciously clocked them but not enough to engage further around what it might mean, so it helps to have that called out. That’s so fun that you ended up picking this one up 😆
I have The Pretender on my list coming up soon and I hadn't heard of Perspective but anything that involves the Medici’s will always make my TBR.
As far as Sirens I am buddy reading it now and Weyward was 5 stars for me. I know dual timelines can be tough but she seems to write them in a way that keeps you just as engrossed in both rather than wishing you were back in the timeline you enjoy. I would encourage you to try her just to experience her writing. She is really great in my opinion. 😊
I keep hearing great things about Victorian Psycho and Tilt - I need to get to these soon!! I'm impressed you could get through Tilt at 32 weeks pregnant :)
I'm adding The Pretender and Perspective(s) to my TBR, I haven't heard anything about these yet but they sound so interesting! Could be a good historical book flight.
Would love to hear what you think of Marylinne Robinson’s quartet! I tried Gilead a long time ago and didn’t connect to it (but that was before my prefrontal cortex had fully developed 😂) - so I’m wondering if I should try it again!
I’m just past halfway through Gilead - the writing is beautiful but some parts are dragginggg I’m not going to lie 😅 curious how different and similar the other books are from each other.

I didn’t and it’s HIGH on my list - hopefully this month!!

Ok that is super helpful to hear about Sirens/Weyward! Maybe I’ll try at some point.
Interested in several of your reads but I’m def starting with Victorian Physco!
It was a great balance of horrifying and sometimes funny - if you have a twisted sense of humor 😂

I love an immersive relatable reading experience 😂 whatever the opposite of trigger warnings are, that’s me

Ok good to know! Will keep an eye out for your thoughts on the other books
